Just been to visit Land Farm Gardens at Colden above Hebden Bridge. A fantastic project by John Williams a former biology teacher at SBGS in the late 60's I think. Well worth a visit. It opens weekends, and has a Barn for functions like reunions??? The website is www.landfarmgardens.co.uk

A reunion is being organised for the class of 64-71, for all those of us who have just reached 60 (we had one when we all reached 50!). Current plans are for it to be on either 15/6 or 27/7. Cost around £10 per head incl buffer and live music. Email me if you want to be on the list

Just seen the 1960 /Sowerby Bridge Grammar School photp on the web. I also have a precious copy and can remember most of my year, seniors and staff - I was in my 4th year. I clearly remember the whole school led by Mr Beaumont our headmaster, parading to Christ Church for the service. I remain friends with Jennifer Shackleton (now Normanton) but would be delighted to hear anyone else.

Some time ago I gave the last honours board rescued from the old school to The Works pub on Hollins Mill Lane in Sowerby Bridge, they said they were interested in putting it on the wall. Nothing has happened yet, so if anyone is having a drink in the pub, ask where the old honours board from SBGS is. It may spur them on, and get it on display. If you want to see a photo of it on this site, it in in the group of 1960's photo's. I also understand that the library in Sowerby Bridge may be interested in it if the pub want to hand it over, but the last I heard was the pub fancied putting it up, and adding the names of old customers who had passed away! Not sure if everyone would think that is the right thing to do, but it makes me smile to think maybe an ex pupil finally got on the honours board for services to the brewing industry. Happy New Year.
